Mixed Berry Smoothie Bowl

Smoothie bowls are such a fun way to be creative in the kitchen, and they are full of flavor, minerals, nutrients, and antioxidants! My family and I love making smoothie bowls with seasonal and local produce. Every Saturday, we try to go to a local farm stand or farmer's market and stock up on local fruit and vegetables. Using local produce in smoothie bowls not only creates vibrant flavors, but the produce is full of more nutrients thanconventional produce found in grocery stores. Conventional produce is picked before it is fully ripe and shipped long-distance, which results in many nutrients getting lost during the process.

In contrast, local produce is picked at peak ripeness, ready to be taken home and used or placed in the freezer right away, resulting in produce rich in nutrients. One our favorite ways we like to "lock-in" these nutrients in local produce, is to freeze berries in-season, and use them for smoothies and smoothie bowls throughout the year. This recipe is our go-to for the whole family most mornings throughout the year. We love to change it up, add new things, and do different variations of it to get in a variety of nutrients. Smoothies and smoothie bowls are also a great way to sneak in extra nutrients for picky children. I hope you enjoy this family favorite!
