šBe in a relaxed state when eating!
š«Include more bitters in your diet! Some bitters include apple cider vinegar, arugula, leafy greens, and ginger!
š§āāļøTake some deep breaths before you eat! To optimize digestion, we want our parasympathetic nervous system activated, which is our bodyās rest and digest state. When you breathe deeply, you are helping your body get into that rest state!
āŗļøEnjoy your food! The smell, texture, flavor⦠Savor it!
š„Prioritize whole foods!
šŖSit and eat! Try not to stand! I know this is hard for many people! Especially busy parents with a baby in their arms, or someone like a nurse whoās running around everywhere and feels like they canāt catch a break!
š Tongue scraping! Say what!? Did you know your digestive system starts in the mouth and ends at the anus? Tongue scraping reduces the bacteria load, and a balanced oral microbiome can positively impact the gut!
š¶Try drinking 1 tsp apple cider vinegar with 4-8 oz water, 10-15 minutes before meals to help optimize digestion!
š½ļøChew at least 20 to 30 times per bite. The more you chew, the easier digestion is.
ā°Try to sit at the table for 20 to 30 minutes per meal! This is hard for me! Take your time and enjoy!
š»Try to avoid multitasking when eating! If we are too distracted, we can miss the āIām fullā signaling cues from our body. This also distracts you from mindful eating!
*Habit stack: try to eat one meal a day outside to get sunshine as well!
*Start with one habit at a time! Donāt try to change all at once!
*Youāve got this!
